Open See @ Henri Bendel 2010

So many Dolly Rockers customers have been asking me how the open see @ Henri Bendel, New York went - thankyou! So i have finally got around to the story..it went a little something like this..
Got up on another beautiful NY late October morning, left the West 44th apartment (could have lived there forever), walked up to 5th avenue (i was so looking like a New Yorker - had the oversized bag, trench coat on, big starbucks coffee) and made my way to HB. When i got there at about 7am the line had only stretched to around the corner so i was pretty pleased. As the line slowly moved i had the best time laughing and sharing stories with the other talented designers. It wasnt until 12.00pm that i had reached the other side of Harry Winston store.
At 1pm i was sitting in the waiting room, waiting for my name to be called out. Before long i was talking with a gentleman buyer from HB who was very enthusiastic about Dolly Rockers jewellery - but it helps if your just as responsive - some other designers around me looked like they were standing in front of a firing line waiting execution. If you dont have confidence in your label how do you expect the buyers to.
All round it was the a fabulous New York experience and i am SO glad i did it. It was worth being stopped and bag checked at every airport security station - i carried my jewellery everywhere.

Time Flies..

I can't believe how long it has been since my last blog entry..
Dolly Rockers has been so busy..here is a quick update summary of the last few months..
Following the great success of Dolly Rockers winter collection 2010 i thought long and hard about what summer 2011 would be about..
Often inspiration creeps slowly up on a designer and many components come together to form an idea. Other times inspiration can hit you in the face like a cannonball heading right for you. And thats exactly what happened to me one unassuming day in September.
I love a little off beat style movies, ones that fly under the box office radar but can often star major movies stars. For example i was continuing my Daniel Craig obsession when i saw a clip from a little rather unknown indy film he did a while back called, "Flashbacks of a Fool".
It was the soundtrack that made me sit up..early Roxy music, in particular the song "if there is something" (and later as i heard to album in its entirety, "Ladytron"). A melodic, memorising obi plays with Bryan Ferry singing his heart out. I loved it.
Over the days following the Ladytron collection metamorphosed into Dolly Rockers newest summer collection..
